above Yarm high street: a different way to understand the body
By Nicole Brule-Walker, Founder of Still Body Studio
Yarm High Street is rarely still. People meet for coffee, visit the many independent shops, run errands and the school run. A short climb to the top floor of Mill House brings you somewhere quite different.
Still Body Studio is filled with light, and from here the bustle of the High Street feels further away. There is room to pause, take a breath and pay attention to what your body has been trying to tell you.
I opened the Studio in March 2026 to offer women time and space for that kind of attention. Many of the people I work with are capable and busy. They may arrive with persistent tension, a change in how they move, or a feeling that they are always holding themselves together. Often, they have already tried to manage the symptoms. What they want to know is why it keeps returning, and what might help.
What happens in a Session?
We begin with a conversation about what has been happening, what you have noticed and what you hope to change. Then we explore how your body is moving and responding. I may observe your posture, breathing or the effort involved in a familiar movement. We also explore your thoughts and mindset and how your body responds to these patterns.
Together we decide the priorities and what is most useful, the session can include bodywork, gentle movement, reframing thoughts and practical ways to continue noticing and working with your body afterwards.
This is individual work. The aim is to understand the patterns in front of us and to find a sensible next step, with care for the whole person, not just the presenting concern.
My approach draws on more than 25 years of work across pattern recognition, clinical level bodywork, movement analysis, breath and nervous system regulation. The Body Intelligence Session is a 90 min starting point for someone who wants an unhurried look at what their body is doing and how they might move forward.
A new Studio, rooted in Yarm
Still Body Studio has recently been shortlisted for Best New Business at the 2026 Tees Businesswomen Awards. “I was nervous about enetering so the news felt especially meaningful. It is wonderful to be recognised at such an early stage of where I want to go with this work” said Nicole.
“I hope that the Studio adds something valuable to Yarm.”
The Tees Businesswomen Awards take place on November 4th at Hardwick Hall. I am grateful to Moonrise 24 for sponsoring this category and to Tees Business for their focus on highlighting the extraordinary people and businesses across the region.
